Meghan Markle Bakes Lemon Olive Oil Cake to Thank Frontline Workers

They say, after every storm, there’s a rainbow. And we’re so happy to state that the saying finally stands true for Meghan Markle!

Ever since she became a part of the royal family Meghan has faced scrutiny for a number of reasons; whether it’s the fact that she’s not British, her not-so-great history with her father, her and Harry’s step back from royal duties, or even her personal style statement. But after a barrage of controversies and media bashing, it finally seems that she’s turning a new leaf with the media and fans alike.

Recently, the Duchess of Sussex gained an appreciation for adding her own unique touch to Women’s History Month celebrations.

Meghan’s sweet gesture

To show gratitude for a group of women delivering meals during the pandemic in Chicago, Meghan baked a lemon olive oil cake using lemons from her garden in Montecito, California. The cake was part of a luncheon hosted by Harry and Meghan’s Archewell Foundation in collaboration with World Central Kitchen to celebrate Women’s History Month.

Along with the cake, Meghan and Harry also sent a letter addressing the women joining the meal, in which the couple expressed hope that the women enjoy the cake adding that it was a small token of thanks from their side.

World Central Kitchen’s (WCK) reaction to Meghan’s gesture

On March 26, 2021, WCK shared a picture of a women’s group on Twitter with a small message. In the photograph, four women were shown posing with Meghan’s cake. The organization declared that it was working with the Archewell Foundation to honor Women’s History Month and said that Meghan baked a cake with lemons from her garden to support its initiative.

Following the tweet was another picture of five women who said that since the spread of COVID-19, WCK had distributed approximately 50,000 meals. It also mentioned that Dorri from the YWCA Metropolitan Chicago (a non -profit organization), and Sarah, co-owner of Fat Shallot restaurant, had joined the meal-delivering women for lunch. FYI, WCK is a non-profit organization that provides meals to areas that are suffering from natural disasters.

Meghan’s love for cooking

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Meghan has cooked for an event. In 2018, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were touring England, Meghan had bought homemade banana bread to a family farm in Dubbo. And that’s not it! On various occasions, she has also cooked for her niece and nephew Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

According to reports, she bonded with the two little royals over homemade delicacies. The Duchess of Sussex has even cooked food for her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton. And given her love for cooking, it isn’t much of a surprise that she penned a cookbook in 2018 named Together: Our Community Cookbook, which featured recipes of women affected by the Grenfell Tower fire.
