Is it too late for us to find out that Queen Elizabeth, who just celebrated her 96th birthday, is a die hard fan of Jazz music? On top of that, the legendary American jazz musician Duke Ellington turns out to be on her playlist. However, what became more obvious later on is that the monarch does not love Ellington as a singer.
She, rather, loves jazz music. The Daily Mail was reported saying that the Queen once met the British legendary jazz musician, Gary Crosby. She made him “so happy and comfortable” as the monarch spoke out her heart about her love for jazz.
Later that week, Crosby went on BBC and revealed the Queen’s love and passion for jazz. Turns out that the 96 years old queen has been listening to jazz music from an early age. Crosby went on to speak about receiving the medal from the queen in 2019. By then, he was the first British jazz musician to be awarded by the sitting queen. Crosby was given the medal at Buckingham Palace at the hands of Queen Elizabeth.

Furthermore, the host of the show asks Crosby more about the Queen, her taste for music, and her favorite singers. “Who does she (referring to the Queen) love the most among the blues”? Asks Cerys Matthew, the host of the show. “No doubt, Duke Ellington,” responds Crosby and shakes his head smiling. The British jazz legend further discussed how “amazed” he was as he sat together with Duke Ellington and Queen Elizabeth. “It was surreal,” Crosby recalls. “We sat there and we had some casual talks. At one point, the Queen came up with the perspective of ‘reamplifying acoustic instruments.’ This was the moment when I thought to myself: ‘Is it for real?’ How come Queen Elizabeth can be talking to me about some re-amplifications?”
Likewise, the British jazz legend further recalls that it was a wholesome experience to imagine “an audience of 60,000 people listening to the re-amplified version.” At one point, Queen Elizabeth questioned chuckling, “how difficult will that be for 60,000 people with massive speakers trying to listen to the re-amplified instruments?” Crosby also remembers that they laughed together and spend “such a wholesome moment.” Crosby recalls the wholesome moment when the queen asked him ‘innocent’ questions and both of them had a lovely time together. “At some point, I even doubted the moment. I thought to myself: Really queen! Is that you? But to be very honest, I am very deeply indebted to her majesty for making me so happy,” Crosby concludes.
