Joe Rogan Breaks Silence on His Inclusion in the Jeffrey Epstein Files

Newly unsealed federal documents tied to the investigation of Jeffrey Epstein have sparked fresh headlines, pulling in several high-profile names — including podcast host Joe Rogan. Rogan responded swiftly after learning his name appeared in the latest batch of files released by the U.S. Department of Justice on Jan. 30.

The records stem from the long-running investigation into Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges. While Rogan’s name appears in the documents, the material contains no evidence of direct communication between Rogan and Epstein.

The references also contain no sexual or illegal context related to Rogan.

Why Joe Rogan’s Name Appears

Instagram | joerogan | Joe Rogan’s name appears in new Epstein files, but with no evidence of contact or misconduct.

The documents outline an attempt by Epstein to secure an introduction to Rogan through physicist Lawrence Krauss. Krauss had previously appeared on Rogan’s podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” in 2017.

Epstein reportedly reached out to Krauss in hopes of arranging a meeting with Rogan. According to the records, Krauss described Rogan to Epstein as someone who “seems more timid than I would have thought.” The documents confirm that no meeting ever took place and that no correspondence between Rogan and Epstein occurred.

Other references involving Rogan in the files are limited to Epstein’s personal interest in UFC events, a subject closely associated with Rogan’s broadcasting career.

During a recent episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience” featuring Cheryl Hines, Rogan addressed the matter directly. Hines is known for her role in “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and is married to Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr..

“I’m in the files for not going,” Rogan said. He added, “I would have never went anyway, it’s not even a possibility that I would’ve ever went, especially after I Googled him.”

The records clearly indicate that being mentioned does not imply wrongdoing.

Other Austin Figures Named

Rogan appears minimally connected compared to other well-known figures based in Austin whose names surfaced in the same release.

Peter Attia

Longevity physician Peter Attia appears more than 1,700 times in the records. Attia publicly addressed the matter, apologizing for what he described as “embarrassing, tasteless, and indefensible” emails. He has denied any criminal involvement.

Attia was recently featured at the SXSW Conference & Festivals in Austin during a session titled “Peter Attia: The Science and Art of Longevity,” held at the Hilton Austin Downtown on March 8, 2025.

Elon Musk

Tech billionaire Elon Musk also appears in the documents through older email exchanges. Musk, who moved Tesla’s headquarters to Austin, has stated that he declined invitations to Epstein’s private island and plane.

Thomas K. Hubbard

Former University of Texas at Austin classics professor Thomas K. Hubbard sought between $10,000 and $20,000 from Epstein’s foundation in 2015. The requested funding was intended to support a campus conference titled “Theorizing Consent: Educational and Legal Perspectives on Campus Rape.”

What the Documents Actually Show

The latest release of documents makes one point clear: the appearance of a person’s name in investigative files does not, by itself, indicate misconduct.

In Joe Rogan’s case, the records show that no meeting ever took place, and there were no emails or direct exchanges between Rogan and Jeffrey Epstein. The references stem from Epstein’s unsuccessful effort to arrange an introduction through intermediaries, not from any established relationship or communication.

Public reaction often intensifies when recognizable names appear in federal records. Yet the details matter. In this instance, the files show an unsuccessful outreach effort rather than any form of association.

The recent Epstein document release has drawn attention to several public figures in Austin and beyond. For Joe Rogan, the records show only an attempted introduction that never materialized. No communication occurred, and no evidence suggests involvement in illegal activity.

As more documents become public, context remains essential. Names in federal files can generate headlines, yet the substance behind those mentions ultimately defines their significance.
